Persistent thoughts
Worries that loop long after the moment has passed, or a mind that will not settle when you need it to.
Physical sensations
A racing heart, tight chest or shoulders, restlessness, or a knotted stomach without a clear cause.
Avoidance
Putting off calls, invitations, or decisions because the anticipation feels heavier than the task itself.
Sleep disruption
Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking already braced for the day ahead.
Daily impact
Work, relationships, and small routines slowly start bending around the worry.
How counselling may help
Counselling can support patterns, coping, and goals
There is no single script for anxiety counselling, and no promised outcome. What you can expect is a collaborative process, shaped around what matters to you and paced by you.
Find a Therapist
Collaborative goals
You and your therapist decide together what a good direction looks like, and revisit it as life changes.
Coping tools
Practical strategies for anxious moments, drawn from your therapist's training and grounded in your daily life.
Understanding patterns
Room to notice the situations, thoughts, and habits that keep the worry cycle turning.
Therapist-specific approaches
Each Charis therapist works from their own training and modalities — fit matters more than any one method.
Support here means an honest process, never a promised outcome.
Therapist and fee fit
Find anxiety support by therapist fit and fee
The right therapist is part expertise, part fit. Charis — founded in 2014 and led by Registered Psychologist Susan Grinder — keeps both easy to weigh: browse the team, compare credentials and fees, and choose the person who feels right.

Common questions we answer
When should I consider counselling for anxiety?
You do not need to be in crisis. If worry, tension, or avoidance keeps interfering with sleep, work, or relationships — or you simply want support sorting things out — that is reason enough to reach out.
What happens in a first session?
Your therapist takes time to get to know you: what is bringing you in, what you have tried, and what you would like to be different. You set the pace, and you are welcome to ask questions of your own.
Can I do sessions online or by phone?
Yes. Alongside in-person sessions at our West Edmonton office, Charis offers online and phone counselling across Alberta where appropriate for your situation.
What do sessions cost?
Individual sessions are $120–$235, depending on your therapist's credentials and experience. Direct billing is available for many plans, subject to eligibility. Alberta Health Care does not cover private-practice counselling.
